PPF, Color PPF, Window Tint & Commercial Wraps — Orlando FAQ

Straight answers from the Central Florida shop that installs it. These are the questions we hear every week from drivers in Orlando, Winter Park, Windermere, Lake Nona, Dr. Phillips and Kissimmee — answered without the sales pitch.

Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Clear APTERIX PPF for I-4 debris, love bugs and Florida sun.

What is paint protection film, and do I need it in Orlando?+

Paint protection film (PPF) is a clear, self-healing urethane film applied over your factory paint. It absorbs rock chips, road debris, bug etching and light scratches so the paint underneath stays untouched.

Central Florida is hard on paint: constant construction on I-4, the 408 and the 417 throws debris at your front end, love bug season etches clear coat within days, and year-round UV fades unprotected finishes. If you plan to keep the car more than a couple of years or care about resale, PPF is the most effective protection you can add.

How much does PPF cost in Orlando?+

Front-end PPF at Supreme Wraps Orlando starts at $1,299 and covers the fenders, bumper, hood, mirror covers, headlights and fog lights. Full-car PPF starts at $3,999 and covers every exterior painted surface plus headlights and fog lights.

Final pricing depends on vehicle size and paint condition. Call (407) 900-0190 or use the form below for an exact quote on your car.

What warranty comes with APTERIX PPF?+

APTERIX PPF installed at Supreme Wraps Orlando carries a 15-year warranty against yellowing, cracking, peeling and bubbling under normal use. We'll go over the full terms with you at the time of your quote.

Which parts of the car should I protect first?+

Start with the front end: hood, front bumper, fenders, mirror caps and headlights. That's where 80–90% of chip and bug damage lands. Rocker panels and the rear bumper loading edge are common add-ons for trucks and SUVs.

Full-body coverage makes sense for new luxury, exotic and performance vehicles, dark or matte factory paints, and any car you intend to keep long term.

Will PPF handle Florida humidity, salt air and summer storms?+

Yes. APTERIX PPF uses a UV-stable top coat and a pressure-sensitive adhesive designed for hot, humid climates. Properly wrapped and sealed edges stay down through afternoon downpours and coastal trips. Yellowing was a problem with older, cheaper films; it is not a problem with quality film installed correctly.

Does PPF really self-heal?+

Yes, for light swirl marks and fine scratches. The top coat is elastic; heat from the sun or a warm rinse lets the surface flow back to smooth. It won't heal a deep gouge or a scratch that reaches paint. In Orlando the film usually heals itself sitting in the driveway.

How long does PPF installation take?+

A front-end package is typically 1 to 2 days. Full-body coverage is usually 3 to 5 days depending on the vehicle. We do a full paint decontamination and inspection first so the film bonds to clean paint, which is where most of the time goes.

Can PPF be installed on a used car?+

Yes, as long as the paint is in good condition. We correct light swirls and oxidation before installation; existing chips and deep scratches should be touched up first because the film seals in whatever is underneath. Bring it by and we'll tell you honestly what's worth protecting.

How do I wash and care for PPF?+

Treat it like paint. Hand wash or touchless wash, pH-neutral soap, no abrasive polishes. Get love bugs off within a day or two — the film protects the paint, but you still don't want them baking on. Avoid pressure-washing directly at film edges and skip brush-style washes. Wait about 7 days after installation before the first wash.

Color PPF

Change the color and protect the paint in one film.

What is color PPF, and how is it different from a vinyl wrap?+

Color PPF is paint protection film with the color built into it. You get the color change of a wrap plus the impact and scratch protection of clear PPF — one film doing both jobs.

A vinyl wrap changes the look but is thin and offers almost no protection against rock chips. Color PPF is several times thicker, self-heals, and holds up to Florida road debris in a way vinyl can't.

Which holds up better in Florida: color PPF or a vinyl wrap?+

Color PPF. Vinyl wraps tend to fade, lift at edges and suffer from humidity and constant UV faster here than in milder climates. Color PPF is built on the same UV-stable urethane as clear film and is far more tolerant of Central Florida weather. It's the better choice if you want the color to look the same in year four as it did on day one.

What colors and finishes are available?+

APTERIX Color PPF comes in gloss, satin and matte finishes across a growing range of solids, metallics and specialty colors. We also install satin and matte clear PPF over your existing color if you want the finish change without a full color change. Stop by the Orlando shop to see physical samples on real panels.

Does color PPF protect my paint as well as clear PPF?+

Yes. It uses the same urethane base and self-healing top coat as clear film. The pigment is carried inside the film rather than printed on top, so protection performance is the same and the color doesn't wear through.

Can color PPF be removed? Will it hurt my resale value?+

It removes cleanly with heat and reveals factory paint that's been sealed away from chips, sun and swirl marks the whole time. That's a resale advantage: buyers get an original-color vehicle with paint in better condition than one that was never covered.

How long does color PPF last?+

Expect years of service with normal care — significantly longer than a vinyl wrap in this climate. Longevity depends on the finish, how the vehicle is stored and how it's washed. We'll walk you through the warranty terms for the specific APTERIX film you choose at the time of your quote.

Ceramic Window Tint

Heat rejection built for Florida summers.

What is the legal window tint limit in Florida?+

For sedans, Florida allows front side windows at 28% VLT (visible light transmission) or lighter, and rear side windows and the rear window at 15% or lighter. SUVs, trucks and vans can go to 6% on rear side windows and the rear window. The windshield may only be tinted above the AS-1 line, and front side windows may not be more than 25% reflective.

We install to Florida spec and can show you each shade on a real window before you commit.

What makes ceramic tint better than regular tint?+

Ceramic tint blocks infrared heat, not just visible light. That's the difference between a window that looks dark and one that actually keeps the cabin cooler. It also blocks 99% of UV, contains no metal (so it won't interfere with phone, GPS or SunPass signals), and won't turn purple or bubble like dyed film does in Florida humidity.

Does window tint really reduce heat inside the car?+

Ceramic tint does. Quality ceramic film rejects a large share of the infrared energy that heats your cabin, so a car parked at a Lake Nona office lot in August is noticeably cooler when you get in and reaches a comfortable temperature faster. Cheap dyed tint mostly just darkens the glass.

Can you tint the windshield?+

In Florida, only the strip above the AS-1 line can be tinted. However, we can install a clear or near-clear ceramic film across the full windshield that blocks heat and UV without darkening your view. It's one of the most effective upgrades for a daily driver here. We also offer windshield protection film for chip and crack resistance.

How long before I can roll my windows down after tinting?+

Leave the windows up for 3 to 5 days so the film fully cures to the glass. Florida humidity can push that toward the longer end. You may see small water pockets or a slight haze during that time; they clear as the moisture evaporates.

Do you tint Teslas and cars with large glass roofs?+

Yes. Tesla, Rivian, Lucid and other EVs with panoramic glass are some of our most common tint jobs — the glass roof is where most of the heat comes in. Ceramic film on the roof, rear glass and side windows makes a dramatic difference in cabin temperature and reduces the battery load from running A/C.

Commercial & Fleet Wraps

Turn work vehicles into advertising that survives Central Florida.

Do you wrap commercial vehicles and fleets in Orlando?+

Yes. Supreme Wraps Orlando has a dedicated Commercial Fleet Division handling single work trucks up through multi-vehicle fleets for businesses across Orlando, Kissimmee, Winter Park and Central Florida. Vans, pickups, box trucks, trailers and passenger vehicles are all in scope.

What's the difference between a vinyl commercial wrap and printable PPF?+

A traditional commercial wrap is printed vinyl: cost-effective and great for graphics, but it fades and cracks faster under Florida sun and humidity and takes rock chip damage on the front end.

Printable PPF puts your graphics on a thick, UV-stable paint protection film. It costs more up front but lasts substantially longer in this climate, self-heals minor scratches, and protects the vehicle's paint underneath, which matters when the truck is eventually sold or returned off lease.

How long does a commercial wrap last in Florida?+

It depends on the material and where the vehicle lives. Vinyl on a truck parked outside year-round in Orlando will show wear sooner than the same wrap in a milder climate; garaged fleet vehicles last considerably longer. Printable PPF extends that life meaningfully. We'll be honest about the realistic lifespan for your use case before you decide.

Do you handle the design, or do I need to bring artwork?+

Either works. Bring finished artwork and we'll proof it on a template of your exact vehicle, or bring a logo and a rough idea and we'll design the wrap with you. Print-ready files should be vector where possible; we'll tell you exactly what we need after the first conversation.

Can you wrap our fleet without taking every vehicle off the road at once?+

Yes. We schedule fleets in rotation so you keep vehicles working while others are in the shop. Typical turnaround per vehicle is 2 to 4 days depending on coverage. Tell us your operating schedule and we'll build the install plan around it.

Can you do partial wraps or just lettering and logos?+

Absolutely. Partial wraps, door logos, cut lettering, DOT numbers and spot graphics are all common. A well-designed partial wrap on a white work van often delivers most of the visibility of a full wrap at a fraction of the cost.
