What color PPF is
Color PPF is made from the same kind of urethane film used to guard paint against chips and scratches, so the color you choose sits on a protective layer and not only on a decorative one.
APTERIX:CLR gives the car a different color without a repaint, and we walk through the available looks with you when you come by the shop or send photos.
The film is self-healing, so light swirls and wash marks can flow back smooth, and it stops rock chips and scratches on the panels it covers.
Pricing depends on the vehicle, the color and how much of the car you want covered, so we quote each car in writing and do not publish a single number.
Both change how your car looks, and they are different products with different tradeoffs, so here is an honest comparison.
A vinyl wrap changes the color of the car and offers a wide range of finishes and designs, but it is not a protective film, so it is not built to stop chips or heal light scratches.
Color PPF changes the color and protects the paint at once, because the color lives in a self-healing paint protection film.
If protection matters as much as the color, color PPF is the better fit, and if you want custom graphics or the widest design freedom, a vehicle wrap may suit you better.
The film
APTERIX:CLR is the color paint protection film in the Apterix line, which Supreme Wraps developed and installs, so the team in The Colony works with a film it knows well.
The install
Color film shows every flaw underneath it, so preparation and panel planning decide how the finished car looks.
It depends on the vehicle, the color and the coverage, so we give a written quote for your exact car and do not list a single starting price. Send us the year, make and model and we will reply with a number.
No. A vinyl wrap changes color but is not a protective film, while color PPF changes color and also protects the paint with a self-healing film.
Yes, on the panels it covers, because it is a paint protection film that stops rock chips and scratches. Ask us which panels your quote covers.
It depends on the vehicle and how much of it you want covered, and your written quote includes a timeline for your car.
